Your monthly gift goes beyond financial support but provides a pathway for transformation by supporting a child in 4 key areas :

1) education - assistance towards tuition, school supplies, uniforms, and tutoring

2) nutrition & health care - children receive a meal during program gatherings, and regular medical & dental check ups 

3) discipleship- children will be introduced to the gospel of Jesus, receive mentorship and guidance for their future 

4) safe space- children can gather in a safe space to receive love, prayer, and life skills training in areas like hygiene & first aid

Yes! In fact, we encourage it! Writing letters, sending photos, and having correspondence with your child is a deeply meaningful way to connect. Your words remind your sponsor child they are loved, prayed for, and not forgotten. 

Yes! We have a schedule for sending and receiving letters based around your child's school year & holidays in Burkina Faso with the goal of you receiving 4 touchpoints from your child per year by letter, photo or video. In addition, you will receive correspondence from our team if your child has any specific needs, health concerns, or life updates.

Occasionally, small physical gifts may be sent with teams traveling to Burkina Faso. When this option becomes available, we will communicate directly with sponsors and provide specific guidelines.

Your letters and thoughtful gifts are such a blessing and reminder to your child that they are known, loved, and supported.

There are several reasons a child may no longer be part of the Walk in the Light International sponsorship program.

In some cases, students successfully graduate from our program after completing their education or vocational training. This is always something to celebrate!

Most commonly, families may relocate to another community outside of our partner villages, or there may be changes in family circumstances that prevent continued participation. Occasionally, a child may choose not to continue in their schooling or may not meet program participation requirements.

Whenever a transition happens, our local leadership team works carefully and prayerfully with families to ensure each child is cared for with dignity and support.

If your sponsored child leaves the program, we will notify you personally and provide an opportunity to sponsor another child who is waiting for support.

Every sponsor has a personal sponsorship account in our WITLI database—whether you give online or by check.

Through your secure online account, you can easily manage your sponsorship at any time. This includes updating your contact or credit card information, adding an additional child sponsorship, and adjusting your monthly giving amount.

We understand that life circumstances can change, and you may need to cancel your sponsorship. If that time comes, we want the process to be simple and clear for you.

You can cancel your sponsorship at any time by logging into your Sponsor Portal. Once logged in, select Manage Giving, then choose the sponsorship you would like to cancel and follow the prompts to complete the cancellation.

Once a sponsorship is canceled, your child will continue to receive support through their current school year. They will then be placed at the top of the waiting list to be matched with a new sponsor as quickly as possible.
